Assessment in H & C

How does H & C deal with quality assurance issues regarding assessing the quality of learners' work while on placement by external parties?

  • Presumably there is engagement with the relevant codes of practice on assessment and placement learning ...

  • Assessment for AHP students at CI is informed by CSP/COT standards of education and conforms to HPC standards of proficiency and QAA subject benchmarks. A criterion based form is used for PT students developed by 9 institutions across the SE and championed by the PPIMS system.

The creative bit is the excellence of the PT team in developing assessment methodologies that integrate theory and practice at all levels and address the wide range of learning styles found in the average PT student.

Over to you Barry to spread your peacock feathers about the methodoligies used and why.

  • We have the luxury of having a well used and regarded assessment form which is robust and clearly sets out the learning outcomes for placement. It was created by collaboration by involving clinicinas (users) in its inception. Because it is used by 10 different HEIs there is a large volume of support for it. As the clinicians are regularly using it and the messages from the HEIs about how to use it is consistent our QA processes are taken care of. We educate our educators in the use of the form.
